CHATTANOOGA – Congressman Chuck Fleischmann responded to President Obama’s press conference on the state of the economy, and his assertion that “the private sector is doing fine.”
“President Obama again showed how out of touch he is with the American people. Not only is the private sector not ‘doing fine,’ but more spending by the federal government will not fix this problem,” Fleischmann said.
“The President’s continued assertion that the House has failed to act could not be further from the truth. The facts show just the opposite. The House has passed around 30 jobs bills that have gone nowhere in the Senate at the direction of President Obama. The House has passed two budgets, while the Senate has failed to pass one in over 1,100 days at the direction of President Obama.
“It is time for new ideas. My ‘Less Government, More Jobs’ plan contains the kind of ideas that will get our economy moving again – less regulation, lawsuit reform, lower taxes, energy exploration, tax reform, free trade, and stability in the marketplace. Mr. President, we have acted and we will continue to act. It is time for you to work with us.”
