Obamacare – Supreme Court rules it’s a TAX!

The Supreme Court upheld Obamacare today, despite ruling that the individual mandate was unconstitutional under the commerce clause of the Constitution.  The Court ruled that the individual mandate survives as a tax.

In upholding Obamacare, The Supreme Court's decision forces Americans to buy health insurance.  If they refuse, they will now face an enormous tax penalty.

The results of Obamacare are clear.  The American people now face higher healthcare costs, 20 new taxes, top down government control of healthcare, and $1.76 trillion added to our budget.  PLUS a ballooning IRS which is supposed to “manage” this mess! I’m not holding my breath on that one!

It is now solely up to Congress to deal with this bad law.  I believe the Court made the wrong decision.  Republicans were elected in overwhelming numbers in 2010 on a promise to repeal Obamacare.  The fight goes on.  We must continue to work to repeal Obamacare and replace it with free market healthcare reforms which put patients first.

The American people have rejected Obamacare.  It is time for Congress to follow their lead.  Our nation's finances, healthcare, and liberty demand nothing less.

Congressman Fleischmann issued a video statement reacting to the Supreme Court decision to uphold Obamacare.  You can view his statement here.

Healthcare is NOT a right, it is a service, and when govt piovrdes services the cost goes up, and the quality goes down. Why? The supply and demand curve gets eliminated and monopolies are formed. The only thing the govt should really step in and handle is tort reform. In a free market system you can't require hospitals to take in sick people, but I'm sure most hospitals would have sponsorship programs for less fortunate people and more people would give $ to them.

Thank you congressman! As a physician, I can tell you that Obamacare is a disaster! It must be overturned after the election and real reform with less government expense and less interference with patient choice.
Please don't fund this huge mistake! Sincerely David S MD

Now that the Supreme Court has ruled Obamacare constitutional, will you continue to obsess over repealing it or will you focus on working with Democrats to pass legislation to create jobs?
