Three Years and Counting

In 1974 Congress passed a law requiring Congress to pass a budget resolution by April 15th of each year.  This year, for the third year in a row, Senate Democrats have refused to comply with this law.  In fact, on April 18th, Senator Kent Conrad, Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, announced that the Democrats would not offer a formal budget - a clear violation of federal law.

Just last year, speaking about the budget, Senator Conrad said "Those who take a walk, those who turn away, those who don't have the gumption to stand up, are going to be judged very, very harshly."

It's time for Senate Democrats to stop playing political games and do the work of the American people.  It's time to restore fiscal sanity to the federal government.  It's time for the United States Senate to pass a budget.
