600 rally for VA hospital in Harriman

Meet the 112th.com

An estimated 600 people jammed into and around the Kingston Pavilion off Highway 70 Friday to listen to three congressmen voice support for the proposal to convert the Roane Medical Center.

The parking lot at Kingston City Park was filled to capacity a half hour before the event.

The rally occurred just after U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Florida, chairman of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs, joined area congressmen Chuck Fleischmann and Scott DesJarlais on a tour of Roane Medical.

Miller came at Fleischmann’s invitation.

The 105-bed hospital will be turned over to Harriman once Covenant Health moves into its new medical center under construction in Roane County’s Midtown area.
