Knoxville News:

U.S. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor described U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann on Friday as a person who "hasn't forgotten" conservative principles of "spending down" and "managing down" the federal budget.

Cantor campaigned for the Ooltewah Republican at Ruth's Chris Steak House in Knoxville at a $1,000-per-person fundraiser and $2,500-per-person roundtable discussion.

Nashville fundraiser Bryan Kaegi said $75,000 was raised for Fleischmann, who represents the 3rd Congressional District.

"He has a lot of respect and is a straightforward person," he said.
