U.S. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor described U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann on Friday as a person who "hasn't forgotten" conservative principles of "spending down" and "managing down" the federal budget.

"He has a lot of respect and is a straightforward person," he said.
