An East Tennessee marine who lost his legs in an explosion in Afghanistan received an honor from his congressman Thursday in Washington.
Cody Evans is a combat engineer who was injured back in December during a blast from an IED. The attack took both of his legs.
Thursday, Congressman Chuck Fleischmann called him an outstanding young man.
"To say that I was impressed by this young man's spirit and resilience would be an understatement. Cody has the spirit of a fighter, a spirit that has led to his continued recovery," said Congressman Fleischmann.
